Richard Dawkins is a media personality

Over to the right is a screenshot of the Official Richard Dawkins web site, with a cover overlay classifying different kinds of content on the page.

  • Blue items indicate site branding and navigation.
  • Green items indicate editorial content.
  • Yellow items indicate visitor content.
  • Pink items indicate sales content.

It’s not that I’m opposed to marketing yourself. Authors really have to do that. But I am amazed at the quantity of material here and how in-your-face it is. What this tells me is that atheism is big business and Dawkins is a businessman.

There will probably be more about this later as I work my way through The God Delusion.

    I guess you have to be pretty heavy into marketing if your product is the absence of the product that other people are selling but they can’t prove they have any of it and no group of more than 10 people can agree about what it is anyway.
