Separated by mere reality

A friend says Sarah Palin reminds her of Professor Umbridge from the Harry Potter books.

Considering that she once asked a librarian how to go about banning books, I can see her point.

See?  See?  Eerily similar!  Illegitimate teenage love child or alien abduction- you decide in November America!

  2. Mikey G says:

Who’s side would I be on if I chose alien abduction?

  3. Nimrod Gently says:

I would vote for Imelda Staunton.

  4. Chrissy says:

Interestingly, Imelda Staunton was in a movie called Vera Drake.  I haven’t seen it.  Wonder if Palin has.  She should.

  5. lasloo says:

I actually think Palin is pretty hot looking.  Yeah, she looks like a librarian, but less like Umbridge and more like someone in one of those librarian storylines on late night Cinemax movies!  smile
Also, we probably shouldn’t be posting unsubstantiated rumors made from an adversary about what sounds like a side comment.  I’m not saying that it isn’t true, it may be.  But I don’t really think it substantive.

  6. thudfactor says:

I think she acts more like Umbridge than looks.  As far as the unsubstantiated rumors from one disgruntled person are concerned, there are plenty of witnesses:

Shortly after becoming mayor, former city officials and Wasilla residents said, Ms. Palin approached the town librarian about the possibility of banning some books, though she never followed through and it was unclear which books or passages were in question.
Ann Kilkenny, a Democrat who said she attended every City Council meeting in Ms. Palin’s first year in office, said Ms. Palin brought up the idea of banning some books at one meeting. ââ

Don’t most Republicans act like Umbridge?
